Gaudí, aware that he would not live to see his creation completed, poured all his geometric and naturalistic ingenuity into it, defying the laws of traditional architecture. With this ticket, as you step through the temple’s doors, the feeling of being in a church disappears. You'll find yourself in a forest of stone columns that branch out towards the ceiling like gigantic trees.
Furthermore, the basilica is designed to move visitors through the play of light. Its immense stained-glass windows filter the sun’s rays, creating a magical gradient: cool, blue and green tones at dawn, and warm, red and orange tones at dusk. It is a visual spectacle that is never the same.
The exterior façades are an open book. You'll contemplate the contrast between the Nativity Façade, baroque, organic, and bursting with life, and the Passion Façade, angular, dramatic, and stark, which depicts the pain of the crucifixion.
