Free Walking Tour of Bari
Having met your guide at the archaeological excavations in Piazza del Ferrarese at your selected time, you'll begin your free walking tour of Bari's most emblematic monuments and landmarks.
Begin with an introduction to the history of the Piazza del Ferrarese while you admire the elegant architecture of the buildings surrounding you. You'll then stroll onwards to another of Bari's most important city squares: the beautiful Piazza Mercantile, which marks the entrance to the historic centre of the city, known as "Barivecchia".
Exploring the golden stone streets of the old town, you'll reach Bari Cathedral, the oldest church in the city. As you take in the impressive white façade of the Romanesque style temple, your guide will reveal its best kept secrets!
The next stop on your free tour of Bari will be at the Basilica di San Nicola... does it have any relation to St Nicholas, i.e. Father Christmas? Having heard all about the history of this famous Italian church, you'll visit a local bakery to indulge in Bari's exquisite cuisine.
As you wander through the streets, you'll doubtless be captivated by the mouth-watering smells of pasta and foccaccia that linger around the city. Your free walking tour will then come to an end after the perfect introduction to Bari, leaving you free to find the source of those delicious aromas!
