Discover the hutongs, visit the historic temples, explore the business district, the Olympic Village and the shopping streets of modern Beijing.
After picking you up from your hotel's lobby at the indicated time, we'll head to one of the oldest areas of the city to visit the Drum Tower, which used to announce the time in Beijing during the 3rd century.
At the next stop, we'll discover the hutongs (the oldest alleys in the city), where you can see locals living a traditional lifestyle. We'll hop on board a rickshaw, a traditional Chinese means of transport, to explore these fascinating streets.
Continuing to explore Beijing's historical side, we'll arrive at the Yonghe Temple, the most important Tibetan Buddhist temple outside of Tibet.
When we reach Guomao, the skyscraper district, we'll begin to see the city's breathtaking contrasts. We'll also have lunch in this area.
After lunch, we'll head to the Olympic Village to see the fascinating stadiums that hosted the 2008 Olympic Games; the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube are spectacular sights.
The tour will continue at China's National Centre for the Performing Arts, probably the most famous modern building in Beijing. Because of its design, "The Egg" was a topic of debate and controversy for almost two years.
We'll end the tour at the Wangfujing shopping street. If you prefer, we can take you back to your hotel, where we'll arrive 8 hours after pickup.
