Day Trip Details
Are you ready to enjoy one of the most comprehensive experiences Bergen has to offer? We’ll meet at Strandkaien 16 and set off on a day trip to Hardangerfjord, Norway’s second-longest fjord.
At 179 km (111 mi) long, the Hardangerfjord is one of the most impressive and significant fjords in Norway and the world. Once we leave Bergen behind, we’ll begin to explore incredible landscapes where mountains, glaciers, waterfalls, and orchards blend seamlessly.
First, we’ll travel along the shores of the Hardanger Fjord, passing through picture-perfect villages such as Norheimsun, Øystese, and Eidfjord. We’ll learn all about their famous fruit orchards, their artisanal traditions, and their way of life, while admiring their beautiful colorful houses.
Along the scenic route, we’ll continue on until we reach some of the area’s other main attractions. We’ll make a stop at the Fossli viewpoint, which overlooks the Måbødalen valley. From this spot, we’ll have one of the best views of the famous Vøringsfossen waterfall. With a drop of 145 m (475 ft), this waterfall is a true masterpiece of nature. Time for a photo!
Next, we’ll head to the Steinsdalsfossen waterfall, where you’ll be able to walk behind its impressive curtain of water across a pedestrian bridge. Another waterfall we’ll see is Skjervsfossen, surrounded by a wooded area and accessible from various overlooks.
To round out the tour in the best possible way, we’ll head to the town of Voss, where the famous Voss Gondola awaits us. Did you know it’s the largest and most modern mountain cable car in Northern Europe?
We’ll board its cabins to enjoy a 9-minute ride that will take us to the summit of Mount Hangurstoppen. You’ll be treated to spectacular views! Once at the summit, you’ll have free time to stroll along the trails, relax while taking in the scenery, and take plenty of photos.
After this exciting stop, we’ll head to Eidfjord, where we’ll give you 1 hour of free time to grab lunch at a restaurant.
With our batteries recharged, we’ll return to Bergen, bringing this 9-hour day trip to a close.
