The Biscay capital is home to incredible avant-garde architecture. Get to know the stories surrounding modern Bilbao on this guided walking tour. What's more - it's free!
Your free walking tour of Bilbao will start at the Arriaga Theatre, named after the local composer known as 'The Spanish Mozart'. And just around the corner, you'll find the church of St. Nicholas, and the famous Plaza Nueva, where the 'Bilbainadas' (a local musical style with songs principally about Bilbao and its surrounding towns) grew and developed.
Your free tour of modern Bilbao will continue to the Albia Gardens, a luscious green space in the Abando district. Not far from here, you'll find Plaza Moyúa, where you can contemplate the unique façade of the Chávarri Palace. A stunning architectural masterpiece!
Strolling down Bilbao's Gran Vía, you'll reach the city's Fine Arts Museum, whose modernist exterior competes for creativity with the nearby Guggenheim Museum, where our route ends. Before finishing the walking tour, you'll learn some curious facts about the landmark, which was designed by prestigious architect Frank Gehry. Finally, we'll say our goodbyes next to the adorable floral Puppy, the Guggenheim's guard dog!
