La Candelaria Guided Tour
Tour Details
We’ll meet at the Policarpa Salavarrieta Monument, the perfect starting point to begin exploring the history of La Candelaria. First, we’ll give a brief introduction to how the historic center has been shaped over time, from the colonial period to the present day.
Next, we’ll walk to the Journalists Park, a key location in the city’s urban transformation. From there, we’ll continue on foot to Concordia Square, where we’ll explore the relationship between heritage and everyday life in the neighborhood. To complete the experience, we’ll enjoy a small tasting of chicha, a traditional drink that has endured through the centuries.
The tour will continue through the narrow and colorful Callejón del Embudo until we reach Chorro de Quevedo. In this iconic spot, we’ll see how myth and history intertwine in the origins of Bogotá. After taking photos, we’ll head to the Casa de La Pola to learn about the symbols of independence and the city’s memory.
Following the itinerary, we’ll move into the San Carlos area and visit the impressive Colón Theater. Here, republican-era Bogotá will come to life as we explore its architecture and cultural significance.
Shortly after, we’ll arrive at Bolívar Square. In this grand square, we’ll talk in detail about the Cathedral, the Capitol, and the Palace of Justice.
Finally, we’ll walk to the Cultural Block. At this final stop, we’ll say our goodbyes after a total of 2.5 hours exploring La Candelaria.
