Cambridge University Guided Tour

We'll meet at the entrance to King's College at the selected time, and spend 1.5 hours exploring the beautiful city of Cambridge. 

During the tour, we'll travel back in time and find out about a thousand years of human history. First, we'll head to the Great Saint Mary's Church, dedicated to Saint Mayor the Great.  You'll have the chance to see the room in which Newton wrote his theory of gravity and get to know the secrets of the apple tree myth. We'll also visit the pub where Watson and Crick announced one of the greatest discoveries of the 20th century and a contemporary clock that curiously doesn't tell the time correctly. While we explore, you'll be impressed by the Gothic and Neoclassical architecture.

The student atmosphere in Cambridge is one of its key features, so the tour guide will be a University of Cambridge graduate or current student with inside knowledge of the city's history and architecture. They'll also give you a look into what the students really get up to including the “college parents” and the May Balls, you'll also learn interesting facts about each college including which is the most luxurious. We'll also see the different buildings that make up the prestigious Cambridge University, such as Corpus Christi College, Trinity College, Pembroke College, and Clare College.

Plus, you'll see Cambridge University Library and the Christopher Wren Library, some of Cambridge's most important libraries. Some of the remarkable highlights of the tour include Queens’ College, King’s College backs, Clare College, The Senate House, Gonville and Caius College, St Catherine’s College, Great St Mary’s Church, The Eagle Pub, The Corpus Clock, and The Round Church. You'll be sure to enjoy the tour around the inspiring city full of peculiar stories.

King's College Tour Details 

When making your reservation, you can choose the option that includes a guided tour of King's College. In this case, after finishing the walking tour of Cambridge, we'll enter the chapel and enjoy a 1-hour tour discovering its history and monumental architecture, a landmark of English Perpendicular Gothic.

Inside, we'll stop at key elements such as the fan vaulting, the nave layout, the choir stalls, and the stained glass windows. These are among the most outstanding in the country due to their scale and preservation. We'll also discuss the role of the chapel in university life and ceremonies, as well as its relationship with musical traditions known worldwide.

With this option, the total duration of the tour will be 2.5 hours.

Boat Trip through Cambridge

Would you like to make the experience even more complete? Then you can select the option that also includes a boat tour. With this option, in addition to exploring Cambridge on foot and visiting the King’s College monument, you will board a traditional boat called a punt for a 45-minute panoramic ride.

We'll depart from Mill Lane, navigating the waters of the River Cam. During the tour, we'll sail past Clare College, where we'll see Clare Bridge, one of the most recognizable stone bridges in Cambridge due to its arched structure and decorative elements.

We'll also pass by Trinity College and St John's College, two key institutions in the city's academic history, with buildings that combine construction phases from different eras and a layout of courtyards and gardens that is very characteristic of British university urban planning.

Of course, we'll also enjoy the views of King's College from the river, with a privileged perspective of the complex and its landscaped areas. In addition, we'll see The Mathematical Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs, a covered passageway in neo-Gothic style that connects areas of the college.
