Tour Details
We'll begin our walking tour at the Göreme bus station. At our meeting point, we'll learn how nature sculpted the fairy chimneys, Cappadocia's most famous geological landmarks, and how the locals of Göreme adapted their lives around this unique terrain.
Next, we'll get a closer look at this distinctive lifestyle by stepping inside an authentic cave house. From there, we'll make our way to Perili Ozanlar Vadisi, a natural area dotted with pigeon lofts that offers magnificent views over Pigeon Valley. In this mystical spot, which served as a filming location for the movie St. George of Cappadocia, we'll hear the history of the saint alongside eerie legends about silhouettes appearing among the rock formations under a full moon.
Our route will continue as we discover the area's hidden treasures: historic cave churches carved directly into the rock, such as the Hidden Church and the Cistern Church.
To wrap up our free tour, we'll visit the facilities of a traditional hamam, where we'll share the secrets and long-standing customs surrounding the authentic Turkish bath.
After a total of 2.5 hours, we'll conclude our Cappadocia free walking tour.
