Discover one of Sri Lanka's most spectacular destinations on this private tour of Galle: explore the fortified city with your own exclusive English-speaking guide.
Galle Private Day Trip
Having been picked up from your accommodation at 7 am, you'll set off to the south to the city of Galle, a fascinating historic city located on Sri Lanka's southern coast.
Arriving in Galle, you'll embark on a guided tour of its most important places of interest: discover the Galle Fort, one of the oldest fortresses in Asia and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and later fortified by the Dutch, you'll feel as though you're travelling back in time as you admire the incredibly well preserved ramparts.
Visit beaches and the turtle sanctuary located to the south of the city, and learn more about Sri Lankan culture as you watch the locals stilt fishing along the beautiful shoreline, a traditional method of fishing involving sitting on wooden stilts above the water. Truly unique!
You'll also have the opportunity to visit the Tsunami Museum to learn of the tragic events that created so much destruction in 2004.
Discover the Moonstone mines, where this beautiful gemstone is excavated, and delve into Sri Lankan cuisine exploring a herb and spice garden in Galle.
At the end of this unforgettable day of history and tradition in Galle, you'll return to Colombo for around 7 pm.
