Alternative Free Tour of Cusco
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we’ll begin this alternative free tour of Cusco in the central Plaza de Armas, the monumental heart of the former capital of the Inca Empire.
In this square, we’ll admire the exterior of Cusco Cathedral, one of the great symbols of Peruvian colonial architecture. Built on the remains of an ancient Inca palace, this temple stands out for its imposing Renaissance and Baroque façade, as well as its great religious and artistic significance.
We’ll also see the exterior of the Church of the Society of Jesus, famous for its refined Baroque architecture and for being one of the most elegant churches in the square.
We’ll continue the tour next to the Stone of the 12 and 13 Angles, one of the most impressive examples of Inca engineering. At this point, we’ll admire the precision with which the stone blocks were assembled, without the need for mortar. Here, we’ll see the figures of the Andean Trilogy: the silhouettes of the condor, the puma, and the snake carved into an Inca wall.
The route will continue in the colonial neighborhood of San Blas, known for its artists and artisans. In this unique district, we’ll visit a luthier’s workshop to learn about the art of instrument making.
Finally, we’ll walk along the iconic Seven Little Lambs Street, one of the most picturesque and photographed corners of Cusco, famous for its stairways, traditional façades, and peaceful atmosphere.
At the end, we’ll conclude this 2-hour free tour of Cusco at the San Cristóbal viewpoint, where we’ll enjoy extraordinary panoramic views.
