The Biosphere Reserve of Hurulu is home to a large number of birds, turtles and, above all, Asian elephants. Discover the typical wildlife of Sri Lanka when you take this fantastic safari from Dambulla.
Hurulu Eco Park Safari
We will pick you up at your hotel in Dambulla at 1:30 p.m and then drive in the minibus to the beautiful Hurulu Eco Park: one of the most outstanding natural reserves of inland Sri Lanka.
The park covers a vast area of land, so, in order not to miss anything, we will take an all-terrain vehicle safari. On this route, you will appreciate the great biodiversity of the reserve and see a variety of wonderful bird species, such as parrots, hawks, and peacocks. You will even encounter giant tortoises and, if we are lucky, witness the feline kings of the park: the Sri Lankan leopards.
After a short break for lunch (remember to bring your own picnic), we continue the safari by heading to one of the most special places in Hurulu. This is the area where the Asian elephant herds live. Just like humans, these huge mammals also have hobbies and you will witness them for yourself during the tour.
We will also make a stop at the Hurulu Wewa reservoir where shoreline serves as a watering hole for numerous Asian birds, many of which travel thousands of miles, just to drink water!
The Hurulu safari ends back at the entrance to the ecological park. We then climb back on the minibus and return to Dambulla, arriving at your hotel around 6:30 pm.
