On this day trip to Canoa Quebrada Beach, we’ll enjoy a buggy tour to Refúgio Dourado while admiring dunes and cliffs along Brazil’s Atlantic coastline. A must-do activity in Fortaleza!
At the indicated time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Fortaleza and head southeast toward the dunes of Canoa Quebrada Beach. Ready to be amazed by the breathtaking views of ochre-colored cliffs? Let’s go!
After an approximately 2-hour and 20-minute drive, we’ll reach our destination. Once there, you’ll have 2.5 hours of free time to relax on the beach, stroll along the Atlantic coast, and try the local cuisine. This area is known for its famous reddish falésias, sedimentary cliffs shaped over thousands of years by erosion.
Later, we’ll hop into buggies with capacity for 4 people and set off on a 1.5-hour tour. First, we’ll drive along the famous Broadway Avenue, a lively tourist street filled with shops and a vacation atmosphere.
Next, we’ll head to the area’s most photographed symbol: the Half Moon and Star carved into the cliffs. Did you know this emblem originated in the 1960s and eventually became the official image of Canoa Quebrada? Photo stop!
We’ll continue along the shoreline to Refúgio Dourado, an open-air cultural space where we’ll see sculptures carved into the rock reaching up to 5 m (16.4 ft) in height. There, you’ll have 30 minutes of free time to relax and grab a refreshing drink.
We’ll then continue to the Falésias Brancas, light-colored formations made up of compacted sand and mineral layers. After this section of the route, we’ll climb over the dunes to the famous Duna do Pôr do Sol, a natural viewpoint that’s perfect for taking photos.
Finally, we’ll return to the starting point of the buggy tour and begin the journey back to Fortaleza. We’ll say our goodbyes by dropping you off at your hotel after a total of 9 hours.
This tour includes pickup from hotels located in the Praia de Iracema, Meireles, Beira Mar, Mucuripe, and Praia do Futuro neighborhoods. If you’re staying at hotels in the Aquiraz area (Beach Park), you’ll need to make your own way to the Beach Park Suites hotel.
The minimum age to drive the buggies is 18. You must also present a valid driver’s license.
