Discover the wild landscapes and native wildlife of the northern Amazon Rainforest on this three-day tour of the Amazon River from Iquitos.
Amazon River: 3 Day Tour from Iquitos
On the first day of the tour, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Iquitos at 9:30 am and take you to Bellavista port, where we'll board a boat to begin our adventure on the Amazon River.
This first experience of sailing down the world's largest river will bring us to our accommodation, where we'll be welcomed with a delicious lunch. You'll then have free time to relax ready for the afternoon ahead.
After meeting back up, we'll embark on a walk into the rainforest to visit a local indigenous community. We'll get to chat to the people who live there and learn all about their culture and lifestyle in the jungle, before heading back to the lodge for dinner.
Our day will begin with a hearty breakfast, and we'll then board a boat and cruise along the Amazon to Neyser Island, where we'll visit an animal sanctuary. There we'll learn about the wildlife native to the Amazon and get up close to anacondas and other incredible creatures such as monkeys, sloths and toucans.
On the way back to the lodge, keep your eyes peeled for the pink dolphins that inhabit the Amazon River - hopefully we'll see them from the boat! You'll also have the opportunity to bathe in the mud beside the river before we enjoy lunch and relax at the lodge.
After eating, we'll head to the village of San Rafael, where we'll learn all about how local plants are used for medicinal purposes and try our hand at extracting their juice. Finally, we'll return to the lodge for dinner and to hear some of the mythical tales and legends of the Amazon.
On the last day of your three day tour, you'll have the option to take part in a sunrise hike through the jungle. If you choose to do this highly recommended experience, the day will begin at 4:30 am - but the early start will be well worth as you watch day break over the Amazon.
After breakfast, we'll gather the whole group and take one last boat trip on the Amazon River to visit Sinchicuy, an indigenous community where we'll get to learn all about the locals' handicraft making traditions and learn how they fish with handmade rods.
We'll then head back to the lodge for lunch, before making the journey back to Iquitos, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel or the airport at around 4 pm after three unforgettable days.
This three day tour includes two nights' full-board accommodation at the Amazon Queen Lodge.
