Yeguada de la Cartuja Stud Farm Tour
Yeguada de la Cartuja Hierro del Bocado Stud Farm Tour
At 11 am, we'll meet at the Cartuja Hierro del Bocado Stud Farm, located 15 kilometres from the centre of Jerez de la Frontera. We'll visit this place to discover how Carthusian horses are bred and learn why this ancient lineage is so important.
We'll start the tour by walking around the facilities of the stud farm, including the stable yard and the training areas. As we walk, we'll review the origins of the Carthusian horse, a history closely linked to the monks who founded the Carthusian Monastery of Santa María de la Defensión in the 15th century.
We'll learn about the physical characteristics of these Spanish horses, discover how they are bred and, afterwards, we'll get to meet some of them too.
Before the end of the tour, we'll attend a horse show where we'll see these beautiful animals interacting with their trainers and trotting... the perfect end to the tour!
We'll finish the tour by saying goodbye between 1 pm and 1:30 pm.
