The city is worth visiting, but it would be desirable for the tour to be earlier because the 2 hours of free time to visit the city, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., in the sweltering heat, does not invite you to walk. The lunch was very good, better than Jonsin, the guide was very good, in English, but the advertisement was a guide in Spanish. Finally, on the way back, they did not leave us in our accommodation, as was contracted, but in a nearby hotel.

The former Portuguese colony of Malacca, also spelled Melaka, is home to a long and fascinating history. Discover the legacy of this UNESCO World Heritage Site on this full-day trip from Kuala Lumpur.

Description

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Kuala Lumpur and then drive to Malacca, one of Malaysia's most historic cities.

After a 2-hour drive, we'll arrive at the old town, where we'll take a guided tour of the historic center of Malacca. We'll start by visiting St. Peter's Church, the oldest Roman Catholic church in Malaysia. Afterwards, we'll learn more about the Portuguese legacy in this former colony at the Santiago Gate, the only remaining vestige of the fortress of A Famosa.

The next point we'll visit will be the Malacca Museum and the Red Square, one of the most beautiful squares in the city. Amongst the different crimson-colored monuments, the Christ Church particularly stands out. The perfect place to discover more about Malacca's passionate history!

We'll then recharge our batteries with a traditional Malaysian lunch at a local restaurant. After eating, we'll then drive to Jonker Street, Malacca's shopping street, and pass by the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, the oldest Buddhist shrine in Malaysia.

We'll end the tour with a walk along the river, from where we'll return to Kuala Lumpur. Arrival at your hotel is scheduled for 10 hours after pickup.

Malacca Private Tour

If you'd like to visit Malacca in a more personalized way, any day of the week, and with an English-speaking guide, we recommend booking our private tour from Kuala Lumpur. Plus, if you're a large group, you'll save money!

Hotel pickup

This tour includes pickup from hotels in the Golden Triangle area of Kuala Lumpur

If you only book for one person or if your accommodation is not in this area, we'll meet you at the main entrance of Berjaya Square, opposite the Starbucks. There will also be an additional cost to be paid in cash to the driver on the day of the tour, which we'll inform you about at the time of booking.

Partial closures

St. Peter's Church and Red Square are closed on Mondays.

Please note that you cannot enter the church wearing shorts.
