La Plata Museums Walking Tour
At 10 am, we will meet at the steps of La Plata cathedral and visit the museum of this beautiful neo-gothic temple, one of the largest in Argentina.
In the Museum of the Cathedral of La Plata, we will see a large collection of photos, plans, and models related to the construction of this temple. We will also contemplate an important exhibition of sacred art, in which silver chalices, chasubles, and other liturgical objects stand out.
We continue the tour by visiting the catacombs of the cathedral. There we will see the crypt of Dardo Rocha, the founder of the city of La Plata. Located near the cathedral is the museum dedicated to this notable person, where we will continue to learn his main achievements.
After visiting the Dardo Rocha Museum, we will go on foot to the Paseo del Bosque to enjoy a complete guided tour of the Natural Science Museum, the fourth most important museum in the world.
In this great museum, founded in 1884 by the prestigious Argentine naturalist Perito Moreno, we will visit the most important rooms dedicated to geology, botany, zoology, and palaeontology. You will be amazed by the gigantic skeleton of a diplodocus and the enormous skull of a blue whale! We will also visit the Egyptian Room, one of the most important in South America.
Finally, at 2 pm, we will finish our tour of the Natural Science Museum at its main entrance and bid farewell.
