Linares Guided Walking Tour
Tour Details
Welcome to the Maule region! We'll begin our guided tour of Linares at the Plaza de Armas, specifically in front of the Cathedral of San Ambrosio.
This temple, built between 1935 and 1937, was constructed in a style inspired by European Lombard Romanesque architecture. After learning why this architectural style was chosen, we'll continue our walk around the Plaza de Armas toward the Municipal Building. Did you know that its interior houses several works by the prominent Chilean artist Pedro Olmos?
This building follows neoclassical architectural patterns, a style that also characterizes our next stop: the Gobernación de Linares. From there, we'll head to Calle Curapalihue, where the Linares Masonic Lodge is located. We'll discuss the illustrious figures who have gathered here and learn about the significant damage the building suffered in the 2010 Chilean earthquake.
Our next stop is the Iglesia Corazón de María, which was also badly affected by that earthquake. After learning its history, we'll head to the Alameda Boulevard, one of Linares' most popular promenades. We'll discover the most notable monuments and buildings along this avenue before making our way to the Mercado Central, a true cultural and gastronomic landmark of the city!
Finally, we'll wrap up this 2-hour walking tour on Calle Independencia, Linares' main commercial and dining street, where you can stop for a bite or a drink on your own.
