We had a fantastic time. Our guide, Rachel, was wonderful and very entertaining. We learned a lot not only about Sherlock Holmes but also about the author, and it was an excellent way to see part of London. I highly recommend it.

Sherlock Holmes Tour of London

For film and TV enthusiasts, London is the perfect city to meet their favourite characters. But, of course, literature lovers aren’t to be outdone. Welcome to the free Sherlock Holmes tour of London!

Would you like to stroll through the real-life locations that inspired the adventures of the most famous private detective in history? We’ll meet by the Shaftesbury Fountain in Piccadilly Circus, right in the heart of London.

Sherlock Holmes is one of the literary figures most closely associated with the British capital. His creator, the Scottish writer Arthur Conan Doyle, used London to create a world of fog and mystery in late 19th-century Victorian England.

Throughout the tour, we’ll pass historic hotels, alleyways, elegant period gentlemen’s clubs and landmarks that feature in stories such as The Hound of the Baskervilles, A Scandal in Bohemia and The Adventure of the Illustrious Client.

What’s more, the free tour will take us to the only Sherlock Holmes-themed pub in London, a favourite stop for fans of the detective. We’ll also visit the filming locations used in the Holmes films and reveal secrets and interesting facts about the actors who have played him, such as Benedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Brett and Christopher Plummer.

To round off our Sherlock Holmes tour, we’ll delve into the writer’s life, learning about his relationship with figures such as Oscar Wilde and Harry Houdini. Did you know that Conan Doyle was passionate about spiritualism and science?

Finally, after 2 hours immersed in mysteries and lots of fun, we’ll say our goodbyes outside the Lyceum Theatre. See you next time, detectives!
