Swiss Museum of Transport

Located in Lucerne, on the shores of Lake Lucerne, the Verkehrshaus or Swiss Museum of Transport is the most visited museum in Switzerland.

With your ticket, you'll discover the past, present and future of mobility. The different rooms of the permanent exhibition will give you an insight into the evolution of public transport, from the first infrastructures to the most modern technology.

One of the most striking rooms is the one dedicated to rail transport. Here you'll see a large display of Swiss SBB trains, and you'll also learn about the history of the Gotthard Tunnel, which was the longest in the world when it was built in 1882.

In the land transport area you'll also find a large collection of carriages, motorbikes, bicycles and automobiles, as well as a Formula 1 simulator. Also not to be missed is the areas dedicated to air and space travel, as well as the exhibitions of sea and river transport.

The Swiss Museum of Transport is open every day at the following times:

  • April to September: 10 am to 6 pm.
  • October to March: 10 am to 5 pm.

Media World

This fun, interactive exhibition will give you an insight into the fascinating world of media, both traditional and avant-garde.

The Media World exhibition includes various panels and rooms with virtual reality glasses, a television studio, a chroma-key installation and a 360° photo booth. The temporary exhibitions also offer interesting insights into new technologies.

Opening times: the same as the Swiss Museum of Transport.

Hans Erni Museum

This museum is dedicated to the Lucerne artist Hans Erni, whose work includes a large collection of sculptures, paintings and engravings. With your ticket you can visit the famous Panta Rhei mural, the sculpture garden and the Hans Erni Foundation exhibition.

The opening times of the museum are as follows:

  • April to September: 11 am to 6 pm.
  • October to March: 11 am to 5 pm.
