Mahón Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we’ll meet in Plaça de s'Esplanada, right in front of the BBVA office. From there, we’ll begin our walk through the sites that reflect the legacy of the British Crown on the island.
We’ll stroll along the lively Carrer Moreres and stop outside the Teatro Principal of Mahón, the oldest opera house in Spain. Then we’ll continue along Hannover Street, a road where the Anglo-Saxon influence is evident in many of the façades, until we reach the heart of the city.
Next, we’ll stop by the Town Hall and the majestic Church of Santa María, where we’ll learn why Mahón became such a strategic and sought-after port in the Mediterranean. We’ll then head to the Museum of Menorca, a former Franciscan convent that now preserves the secrets of Talayotic culture and local history.
To experience everyday life in Menorca, we’ll visit the Fish Market and the Claustro del Carmen. This neoclassical cloister houses a charming local market and stands beside the impressive Church of El Carmen.
Finally, we’ll walk to Miranda Square, a viewpoint with incredible panoramic views of Mahón Harbor, the second-largest natural harbor in the world. It’s the perfect spot to end the tour with a great photo of the city.
After 2 hours filled with history and stories, we’ll end the tour at this scenic viewpoint.
