Marseille Mystery Tour
It's a scorching summer's day in June 1772, the perfect day for Marquis de Sade and his servant to unleash their wildest sexual fantasies. They hire the services of four prostitutes in the centre of Marseille. Everything was going well until the next morning when... We'll hear the ending of this sinister story at 3 pm when we meet at the Marseille City Hall next to the picturesque Port Vieux. From here we'll begin a tour full of mysteries and legends and get to know Marseille's dark side.
Firstly, we'll take public transport to the Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica. Inside, we'll find out about the secrets it holds and the notorious Tarot of Marseilles. Then we'll enjoy some magnificent panoramic views of Marseille. Our memories ingrained with these unforgettable sights, we'll head to Pierre Puget street to admire a sculpture by the French Baroque artist the street is named after. We'll find out if his life and work really hide unspeakable secrets about the famous Marseille soap...
We'll continue this guided tour around Marseille at Fort Saint Nicolas, the story of which is better not written down... As a final touch, at 6 pm we'll finish the tour outside the Palais du Pharo. History books tell us that this magnificent palace was a gift from Emperor Napoleon III to his wife Eugenia de Montijo. They don't tell us, however, about certain anecdotes and interesting facts that we'll find out about on the tour.
