Tour Details

At the scheduled time, we'll meet in front of the Montejo Museum-House to begin our free walking tour of Mérida. Are you ready to discover the charms of the capital of Yucatán?

Next to the Montejo House, we'll discover the details of this 16th-century construction. Did you know that it has been declared a Historical Monument due to its importance in the legacy of Mérida? There, we'll learn about the history of the Montejo family. We'll reveal some interesting details about this legendary lineage!

From there, we'll head to the Mérida Cathedral, the first cathedral erected in America. Its imposing Renaissance facade will reveal Spanish influence, but also traces of the Maya.

Very close by, we'll find the Palacio de Gobierno, famous for its murals that depict the history and struggle of the Mayan village, a must-visit stop to understand Yucatán's identity.

Afterward, we'll visit the Gran Hotel de Mérida, an architectural gem of Porfirian-style that preserves the glamour of the beginning of the 20th century. Its elegance and historic details make it one of the most admired buildings in the city.

Then, we'll see the Iglesia de Jesús de la Tercera Orden, known for its beautiful Baroque altarpieces and historic significance in Mérida's religious life. Our tour will also take us to the Teatro José Peón Contreras, the most cultural venue in Yucatán. Here, we'll tell you about the cultural life of the city and how this space continues to be a place for music, theater, and dance.

Finally, we'll reach the Parque de Santa Lucía, a corner full of life, famous for its serenades, local ambience, and characteristic "sillas confidentes." These giant white benches are a symbol of Romanticism and coexistence in Mérida. After 2 hours, we'll conclude our free walking tour of Mérida here.
