Tour Details
Day 1: Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from Nairobi airport or your hotel and head to the Samburu National Reserve. Leaving behind the bustle of Kenya's capital, we’ll journey into the heart of the savannah, home to this remarkable natural park known for its diverse wildlife and distinctive landscapes.
After a 6.5-hour drive, we’ll arrive at our hotel and check in. Then, you’ll enjoy a buffet lunch featuring both local and international cuisine.
In the afternoon, following a short rest, we’ll set off on our first game drive through the reserve. Samburu is home to iconic species such as the reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, and the Somali ostrich. As we explore the park, we’ll search for these and other fascinating animals like the beisa oryx and the gerenuk gazelle. Our route will also take us along the Ewaso Nyiro River, a vital lifeline for the region's unique ecosystem.
Before sunset, we’ll return to the lodge, where dinner will be served, and you can relax before the next day’s adventure.
Day 2: Samburu National Reserve - Nairobi
Good morning! After an early start, getting up alongside the sun, we'll set off into the dawn for one last safari in Samburu—the perfect time to observe wildlife, as many animals are most active in the early morning. As the sun rises, we’ll spot herds of antelopes, gazelles, giraffes, and zebras against the stunning backdrop of the reserve’s transforming landscape.
After the safari, we’ll return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. Once refreshed, we’ll check out and begin our journey back to Nairobi.
Upon arrival in Nairobi, we’ll drop you off at your hotel or a location of your choice in the city.
Visit a Maasai village
During your free time, you can choose to visit a nearby Maasai village. All you need to do is coordinate with the guide to ensure it doesn’t conflict with the scheduled safari activities. This experience offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich culture of this nomadic community, known for its vibrant attire and ancient traditions.
3-Day Safari
If you have more time, consider upgrading your experience to a 3-day safari in Samburu National Reserve.
On the second day, after a sunrise safari, we’ll return to the lodge where you can rest and enjoy its facilities. You’ll have access to a buffet lunch and in the afternoon, we’ll head out for another thrilling wildlife safari before returning to the lodge to unwind and enjoy a delicious dinner.
On the third day, we’ll embark on a final sunrise safari. Afterward, we’ll return to the lodge for breakfast. Once we’ve checked out, we’ll begin the journey back to Nairobi, where we’ll drop you off at your preferred location in the city.
Accommodation
This safari includes 1 or 2 nights full board accommodation in one of the following hotels:
- Samburu Sopa Lodge (3*): located inside Samburu National Reserve.
- Samburu Simba Lodge (4*): located in Buffalo Springs National Park, right next to Samburu.
Please note that the choice of accommodation varies only according to availability.
You will be assigned the number of double rooms depending on the size of the group. In case of an odd number of people, we'll give you double rooms and a single room.
Children under 4 years old travel free of charge, but must share a bed with adults. Only one child under 4 years of age is allowed in each single room, and in double rooms the maximum is two.
Important: Schedules and Flights
When booking your flight to Nairobi, keep in mind that pickup is scheduled for 6 am. Therefore, your arrival flight must land no later than 4 am. To avoid any delays or unforeseen issues, we recommend staying at a hotel in Nairobi the night before the safari. Please note that this night’s accommodation is at your own expense.
On the final day of the safari, we expect to arrive in Nairobi around 6 pm. We can drop you off at the airport or any other location within the city. If you plan to fly out from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on the same day, we advise booking domestic flights no earlier than 8 pm and international flights no earlier than 9 pm.
