Tour Details

We’ll meet next to the exit of metro line 2 in Piazza Cavour. Once everyone has arrived, we’ll head into one of the neighborhoods with the most character in Naples. Welcome to Rione Sanità!

Here, we’ll discover that the Rione Sanità neighborhood grew especially during the Baroque period, when the Neapolitan aristocracy decided to build sumptuous residences here. Among them stands out Palazzo dello Spagnolo, famous for its spectacular open double-ramp staircase and elegant decoration. Did you know it’s considered one of the most representative examples of Neapolitan residential Baroque?

As we walk through the neighborhood, we’ll observe daily life at the Via Vergini market and different street art pieces that interact with the historic architecture. In this first part of the tour, we’ll also stop at a typical local spot to taste a Neapolitan tarallo.

We’ll stop in front of the famous mural of San Gennaro by Jorit, dedicated to iconic figures of popular culture. This contemporary work reflects the strong connection between the city and its patron saint.

We’ll also see the well-known Madonna with a pistol mural by Banksy, a unique reinterpretation of the Virgin that has become one of the contemporary icons of the capital of Campania. Did you know this is the only work by Banksy in Italy?

After exploring Rione Sanità, we’ll enter Naples Cathedral for a 1-hour guided tour. This complex combines different architectural phases, ranging from 13th-century Gothic to later Baroque renovations.

Inside, we’ll see the Chapel of San Gennaro, one of the most important devotional spaces in the city. Did you know the glass ampoule containing the saint’s blood is kept here? It’s central to the famous liquefaction miracle that Neapolitans observe several times a year. Please note that the chapel’s treasury is not included in the visit.

Finally, we’ll say our goodbyes after 2 hours and 15 minutes of the tour at Banksy’s Madonna.
