Activity Details
We'll meet at the scheduled time at Calle 5 de Mayo 300 in Oaxaca to kick off an evening filled with tradition in Atzompa. Day of the Dead awaits!
We'll hop aboard our transport and head first to San Jacinto Amilpas, home to one of the most iconic sights of the season: vibrant marigold fields. Upon arrival, we'll walk through these golden paths while learning about the meaning of the flower of the dead and its essential role on Mexican altars. You'll have free time to wander among the crops, soak in the scenery, and snap incredible photos.
After this colorful stop, we'll gather back at the vehicle and make our way to Santa María Atzompa. As night falls, we'll enter its famous cemetery, a sacred ground that transforms into a true sea of light and memories during the candlelight vigil on October 31. Accompanied by our guide, we'll walk past tombs decorated with flowers, candles, and offerings, witnessing firsthand how local families welcome back their loved ones in an atmosphere that is equal parts solemn reverence and celebration.
After fully immersing ourselves in the mysticism of this extraordinary night, we'll regroup to begin our journey back.
Between 4 and 5 hours later, we'll conclude the tour back at our starting point in downtown Oaxaca.
