Bhutan Tour Package: 8 Days
Day 1: Arrival in Bhutan - Thimphu
On the day of your arrival, after meeting the guide at Paro airport we'll drive to Bhutan's capital city, Thimphu. First, we'll cross one of Bhutan's most impressive chain bridges to visit Tamchlog Lhakhang Temple.
Once in Thimphu, we'll take a walk through the city centre to visit the Chorten Memorial, a memorial dedicated to the third king of Bhutan the number of visits will depend on the time of your arrival flight, all included in the price.
Day 2: Thimphu
We'll have breakfast at the hotel and then visit the Zorig Chusum Institute, where the 13 traditional arts are taught. Next, we'll go to Tashichoe Dzong, the medieval monastery fortress that houses the King's Throne room.
Other stops during the day will include the Changankha Monastery, Buddha Dordenma and a papercraft factory - a day full of history and tradition!
Depending on the schedule, we can do other activities such as going to the archery stadium or to the takin reserve, Bhutan's national animal. All these activities are included in the price.
Day 3: Thimphu – Chhimi Lhakhang – Phobjikha
After breakfast, we'll leave Thimphu and head to the central region. We'll cross the Dochula mountain pass, crowned by more than 100 stupas, and then stop in the valley for a 30 minute walk through rice fields ending at Chhimi Lhakhang, the temple of fertility.
The day will end driving to Phobjikha, one of the most beautiful valleys in Bhutan.
Day 4: Phobjikha – Punakha
The day will start by going on a one hour walk through the Phobjikha Valley, which is located at the foot of the Black Mountains, and where you'll see potato crops, the main economic activity in the area. We'll also visit the Gangtey monastery. After lunch, we'll travel to Punakha.
Day 5: Punakha
Once we've had breakfast, we'll visit the Punakha Dzong, an impressive and spectacular 17th century fortress that marked a turning point in Bhutanese architecture. We'll also visit one of the largest suspension bridges in the country.
One of the most cultural highlights of this day will be visiting a local family, where we'll learn more about their lifestyle. Finally, we'll visit the Buddhist nuns convent.
Day 6: Punakha – Paro
On this day we'll travel to Paro. Along the way, we'll stop at the Simtokha Dzong, the oldest in the country dating back to 1629. Upon arrival in Paro, we'll visit its dzong, walk through the streets of the city and see the great variety of handicrafts and traditional products.
Day 7: Paro
We'll make the most of the last day to enjoy one of the most important excursions of the whole tour, the Taktshang Monastery, also known as the Tiger's Nest. Located on a narrow cliff shelf 900 metres (2900 feet) above the city, we'll walk up to see the magnificent views. The climb will take between 2 and 3 hours, but the effort will be worth it.
We'll return to Paro where you'll have the afternoon free.
Day 8: Return flight
After breakfast, we'll take you back to Paro airport, where the tour will end.
The price includes everything: accommodation, full board, vehicle, driver, guide, all activities and visits, entrance fees, taxes and visa, traditional clothing hire and activities such as archery and Bhutanese darts. You'll only need cash to buy souvenirs or pay for drinks (except water, tea and coffee, which are included).
To carry out the tour you'll need a return flight to Paro with 8 days in the country. For example, if you arrive on a Saturday, you have to return the following Sunday.

How to get to Bhutan
You can reach Bhutan from Kathmandu, New Delhi or Bangkok. The two airlines that arrive in the country are Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines. We recommend that you purchase your flights well in advance as seating is quite limited.
