Traiguera & Cervera del Maestre Excursion
At 9:30 am, we'll meet in front of the Peniscola Tourist Office and head to Traiguera. Our journey on the minibus or coach should only take around 30 minutes.
The first stop on our excursion will be a visit to a thousand-year-old olive tree farm. Here, we'll learn all about the care that these trees require, how the olives are harvested, and the steps involved in the olive oil production process. In addition, we'll get to taste some of this liquid gold accompanied by cold meats from the local area.
After 1 hour in the olive grove, we'll go to the village of Cervera del Maestre. We'll take a fascinating guided tour, during which you'll see the main monuments. These include the Church of the Assumption, the Baroque bell tower and the old Medieval market. We'll also stop outside the exterior of the 12th-century castle and visit the Oil Mill Visitor Centre.
We'll then get back on the bus and return to Traiguera to visit the Royal Sanctuary Virgen Fuente de la Salud. While we explore this religious monument, we'll walk through its different rooms, from the old pilgrims' hostel to the medieval hermitage. We're sure you'll be amazed by the beautiful frescoes that adorn this religious complex.
Our excursion will finish at 2 pm back at our starting point in Peniscola.
