Potosí Mines Tour
At the time you book, we'll pick you up from your hotels in Potosi set off on a 20-minute bus journey to the mines on the Cerro Rico mountain.
When we arrive, we'll visit the Mercado de los Mineros miners' market, where we'll get an insight into this profession and find out what their day-to-day life is like. We'll discover what they eat, what their schedules are, what tools they use, the techniques they use to endure the altitude and much more!
We'll also enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Bolivian altiplano from the Cerro Rico which stands at almost 5000 metres high. Then we'll get kitted out in mining gear and head inside the mine. As we make our way through the tunnels we'll see the offerings to El Tio, a sculpture representing a deity to whom locals offer alcohol, tobacco or coca leaves in order to extract the silver from the mine with his blessing.
At the end of the tour, we'll return to the centre of Potosí and drop you off at your hotels.
The activity is not recommended for people who suffer from claustrophobia.

This tour includes pick-up from hotels in central Potosi. If you're staying in nearby villages, you'll have to make your own way to the meeting point on Calle Lanza.
