Trek through the rainforest and explore the beautiful Lake Sandoval as you discover the wildest area in the Madre de Dios region.
Lake Sandoval Amazon Trek
We'll pick you up from your hotel at 6 am and head to the jetty. From here we'll enjoy a relaxing 45-minute boat ride through incredible natural surroundings.
We'll go through the area known as the gateway to the Amazon, and then we'll get onto dry land to start out trek. For approximately three kilometres we'll trek through the Amazonian flora and fauna, crossing paths with monkeys, reptiles, Ara parrots and even hawks.
After this route through the rainforest, we'll then board a canoe and discover Lake Sandoval, which makes up part of the Tambopata National Reserve. From the water, we'll explore one of the most important protected areas in Peru and spot unique species such as giant river otters and black caimans.
We'll replenish our energy at a local restaurant, where we'll enjoy a delicious typical Peruvian lunch before heading back to Puerto Maldonado. The trip will then come to an end, and we'll drop you back at your hotel at around 2 pm.
