Parrot Clay Lick Tour
You'll be picked up from your hotel in Puerto Maldonado between 4 am and 4:40 am and taken to the nearby Madre de Dios River, a short ten minute drive away.
The early start will be worth it as you drive around the river and watch the sun begin to rise over Puerto Maldonado. The breathtaking colours of dawn over the Amazon Jungle will make for a postcard perfect image! Arriving at the clay lick, known locally as a collpa, you'll stand and wait for the brightly coloured parrots to appear acfor their morning feed on the clay wall.
Spend an hour watching as the different species of parrot and macaw "lick the clay" of the collpa. You'll be left speechless by their incredible colours!
At the end of your tour to the collpa and having seen numerous tropical birds, you'll make the return journey to Puerto Maldonado. If you're lucky, on the way back, you'll get to see some of the region's most popular animals: sloths!
You'll be dropped back off at your hotel between 7 am and 8 am.
