At the designated time, we'll meet at the entrance to Alto de la Ballena winery, set in the heart of the Sierra de la Ballena, a unique geological enclave in the region of Maldonado.
We'll begin with a walk through the vine rows, where we'll look closely at the characteristics of the terrain: its stony soils, high mineral content, and excellent drainage. We'll learn about the grape varieties grown here and the viticulture techniques adapted to this ecosystem. Did you know that in Punta del Este, the influence of the Atlantic Ocean can reduce stress on the vines and enhance the wine's natural acidity?
We'll also take in unique panoramic views of the Laguna del Sauce, a landscape that combines ancient rock formations with an almost entirely untouched natural environment. During the visit, we'll also explore the winery's production philosophy, centered on micro-vinification and the expression of terroir.
After the vineyard tour, we'll head to the panoramic terrace for a tasting of 4 premium wines, analyzing their aromatic profiles, structure, persistence, and balance. The pairing includes cheeses, charcuterie, homemade bread, olive oil, and nuts.
