Bike Tour of Calacalí & Nono
At 8:30 am, we'll meet at the Tribuna de los Shyris in Quito and head towards the town of Calacalí. During the trip, we'll cross the imaginary line that divides the northern and southern hemispheres!
Once we reach Calacalí, we'll pick up the bikes to begin our Andean Crossing route, a 10.5-mile (17 km) path with uneven terrain, plains, and steep descents. You'll be sure to get an adrenaline rush!
We'll also ride through trails full of orchids, bromeliads, cat's claws, and ferns, as well as pass through cloud forests and farms! Halfway through the bike tour, we'll stop at a viewpoint to have a delicious sandwich and a drink while admiring the Pichincha Volcano.
Then, we'll continue pedaling to the historic town of Nono, an enclave founded by the Jesuits in the 17th century that houses a peculiar colonial-era church. After exploring the town, we'll return to Calacalí to conclude the bike tour.
Finally, we'll head back to Quito, where we'll arrive back at the starting point at 6:30 pm.
