We'll meet at the entrance of the Centro Comercial Iñaquito shopping centre at the indicated time and board a bus to start our journey to Templo Jempe. Are you ready to enjoy a unique experience in this centre, specialising in holistic medicine?
After we meet, we'll start the Temazcal ceremony. And now for the million-dollar question: what is the Temazcal? It's a steam bath typical of the Mesoamerican area that has been practised since pre-Hispanic times.
To begin the experience, we'll light a bonfire as we explain the whole procedure. Then, the shamans will start reciting ancestral chants, which are said to cleanse the negative energies with soplo, medicinal snuff and plants. Next, the Temazcal will come into play. Now, the four elements will be invoked: water, earth, fire and air.
Afterwards, hot volcanic stones will be added to the Temazcal, creating in a steam bath that will help detoxify the body and mind. As you lay back, we'll play relaxing sounds to help you connect with your inner self. When you leave the Temazcal, you'll take a bath with moon water.
After 4 hours of experience and various rituals, we'll give you time to change your clothes in the centre's facilities. Finally, we'll put the finishing touch to the activity with a vegetarian meal accompanied by pure cocoa drinks.
We'll then say our goodbyes and leave you back at the meeting point in Quito. Alternatively, you may stay in the centre.
During the booking process, you can choose whether you would like us to go with you back to the starting point in Quito or whether you would prefer to stay at the Jempe Temple Center.
