Ragusa Private Tour
At the time of your choice, we'll meet at the Portale di San Giorgio to start a private tour of the historic center of Ragusa, ready to discover this pearl of southeastern Sicily with an exclusive guide.
We'll begin by admiring this beautiful Gothic-Catalan style portal, a symbol of Ragusa, taking special notice of its central section which depicts the fight between St. George and the dragon. Did you know that it was one of the few architectural elements that survived the earthquake that destroyed the town?
A few steps away is the entrance to the Giardino Ibleo, the oldest garden in Ragusa overlooking the Irminio Valley, with views of the Iblei Mountains. Inside this serene oasis, we'll be welcomed by numerous fountains, an avenue lined with 50 palm trees and an elegant balcony that borders the garden.
Then, we'll make our way to the Church of San Giacomo, a temple with a wooden ceiling, Corinthian columns, statues and beautiful paintings, before walking past elegant palaces and stores selling Sicilian ceramics and handicrafts.
Our next stop will be at the Circolo di Conversazione, also called the Caffè dei Cavalieri. This elegant 19th-century neoclassical building was a favorite meeting place for the nobles of Ragusa. From the outside, you can see beautiful frescoes, ceiling chandeliers and mirrors.
The tour will end with a visit inside the San Giorgio Cathedral, the most symbolic monument of Ragusa and one of the most important of the Sicilian Baroque style. It also forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage List!
After about two hours of exploring, the tour will conclude at the entrance of this temple.
