Activity Details
We’ll pick you up from the closest point to your hotel in Reykjavík and head to the harbor to begin an unforgettable boat trip across Faxaflói Bay. As we set sail into the Atlantic, you’ll enjoy stunning views of Reykjavík from the water.
Out at sea, we’ll have the chance to spot humpback whales in their natural habitat. Iceland’s coastline is a favorite gathering place for these incredible creatures, and with a bit of luck, we might also see dolphins or even killer whales. Keep your eyes open for seabirds, too—they’re another highlight of the area!
During the journey, we'll have the opportunity to spot humpback whales in their natural habitat. These whales and other cetaceans frequently visit the coasts of Iceland. Depending on the time of year and sea conditions, we may encounter dolphins and even orcas.
As we sail, we'll learn about the characteristics of these protected mammals and the importance of conserving biodiversity in Atlantic waters. After admiring the whales and some of the birds that frequent the coastline, we'll begin our return journey to Reykjavik.
The tour will end at the meeting point after approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours of activity.
Whale Sightings
Faxaflói Bay is a prime spot for whale watching. However, whales are fairly unpredictable creatures, and the number of whales spotted can vary depending on factors such as ocean currents, winds, and weather conditions at the time. The Arctic climate can change very quickly, which directly influences the animals' behavior.
Please note that the duration of the tour may vary depending on the weather and the time needed to locate the whales. In any case, the activity is always carried out with the utmost respect, without invading or disturbing their natural habitat.
