Art Nouveau Riga: Free Walking Tour

Riga is considered to have the finest collection of Art Nouveau buildings in Europe: discover the most iconic examples of the elegant architectural style on this free walking tour.

Art Nouveau Riga: Free Walking Tour Itinerary

Meet your English-speaking tour guide at 12:30 pm in front of the Latvian National Opera House. After admiring the elegant façade of the Opera House, Riga's most important theatre, you'll begin your free walking tour around central Riga, where a third of all buildings follow the renowned architectural trend of the late 19th and early 20th centuries: Art Nouveau style.

From there, you'll stroll over to Elizabetes, where you'll be captivated by the numerous Art Nouveau buildings that line the street. One of the most famous structures is located at number 10. What will you find there? From peacocks to dramatic masks, the stone carvings decorating its exterior are absolutely spectacular.

Continue on your free tour of Riga to Albert Street, known for being home to a number of embassies, as well as for its striking Art Nouveau architecture. Admire some of the city's most stunning buildings, many of which were designed by Russian architect Mikhail Eisenstein, who incorporated elements from the National Romantic and Symbolism movements into his work too.

Your fascinating tour will come to an end around 2:30 pm at the Art Nouveau Museum located in Albert Street.

It isn't possible to reserve this free walking tour of Riga for groups of more than 6 people. If you're a larger group you can book the Art Nouveau Tour.
