Get ready for an exhilarating mountain bike tour through the captivating landscapes of Rincon de la Vieja. We'll meet at a time of your choice at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelín to select the appropriate bike equipment and provide an overview of the route's technical aspects.
Once fully prepared, we'll embark on our cycling adventure through Rincon de la Vieja National Park, an exquisite protected area renowned for its natural beauty in northern Costa Rica. The duration and distance of our cycling route will depend on the level of difficulty you choose.
As we pedal through the lush green landscapes, we'll be immersed in a world of remarkable biodiversity. Keep your eyes open for sightings of native wildlife such as capuchin monkeys, coatis, armadillos, and peacocks. We'll also see the natural treasures of the Guanacaste province, including the mesmerizing Oropéndola waterfall–one of the most stunning cascades in this part of Costa Rica!
After immersing ourselves in the environmental richness of Rincon de la Vieja National Park, we'll conclude our bike tour by returning to the meeting point.
Options
When you make your reservation, you can choose one of these 3 options:
Beginner level
In this case, we'll undertake a 1.5-2.5 hour route, in which we'll cover a total of 12.5 km. 5.5 km of the route will be uphill and 7 km will be downhill.
Intermediate level
If you choose this option, you'll enjoy a 16-km route, of which 5.5 km will be uphill and 10.5 km will be downhill. The estimated duration of the route is 2-3 hours.
Advanced level
In this route, the most demanding of the three, we'll cover 30 km during an itinerary of 3-4 hours divided into two sections. The first part of the route includes 5.5 km of ascent and 7 km of descent. The second part of the route is 17.5 km, with uphill and downhill parts along the entire route.
