Tapparelli d'Azeglio Castles Guided Tour
Tour Description
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the entrance to the Tapparelli d'Azeglio Castles in Lagnasco, a complex made up of three buildings dating back to 1100. Ready to discover the history hidden behind the castle walls?
This group of fortresses, built between the end of the 11th century and the 18th century, is located in a unique natural setting, at the foot of the Italian Alps, no less! We'll take you inside to discover its history and admire the beauty of the works of art it houses. Did you know that in 1560, the castle was home to the court of Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy and Marguerite de Valois?
Among the different spaces to be explored is the Hall of the Coats of Arms, with its large collection, and the loggetta delle magiche grottesche, where you'll see a series of frescoes by Pietro Dolce. We'll see imaginary and monstrous creatures reminiscent of the characters in the typical paintings of Hieronymus Bosch.
We'll also note the architectural and artistic development of the castles over time while admiring the frescoes and plastic works of 17th-century Piedmontese Mannerism.
At the end of the visit, which will last 45 minutes, we'll say our goodbyes outside the Tapparelli d'Azeglio Castle complex.
