Did you know that the first capital city of Brazil was actually Salvador? Discover the beautiful monuments and buildings of this historic location when you take our fantastic guided tour.
Guided Tour of Salvador
We will pick you up at your hotel in downtown Salvador in the morning, before boarding a panoramic bus which will take us to the historic city center. Along the way, you will encounter the wonderful mix of cultures which, over time, has influenced the city that we see today.
Our first stop is at the iconic lighthouse of the Barra neighborhood, one of the most visited areas of Brazil's original capital. You will also visit the idyllic, tree-lined Vitoria Corridor and the elegant Campo Grande square, where you will see a monument in honor of those who fought for independence for the state of Bahia. At these locations, our professional guide will reveal the most fascinating stories and legends behind them.
We will continue our panoramic bus ride, cruising along September Seven Avenue, one of the busiest places in Salvador. At this point, we get down from the bus and continue on foot, heading into the historical city center, also known as Pelourinho. The colorful buildings, elegant churches (such as the Church of San Francisco), museums, and squares, will take you back in time to the Brazil of a bygone era.
Although historically, this famous district was an upper-class residential neighborhood, it was also a place where slaves were punished during the colonial era. However, after the abolition of slavery, it became a bohemian magnet for artists, turning the district into a cultural hub.
We will also visit the famous Lacerda Elevator, which connects Thomé de Souza Square with Cayrú Square. From the top, you will enjoy breathtaking views across Salvador and the Bay of All Saints, the second-longest in the world.
After descending back down the elevator, we will go to the wonderful Modelo Market, the perfect place if you want to buy some locally handcrafted, souvenirs of the city.
We will drop you back at your hotel in central Salvador at around 1 pm.
