Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the entrance to one of Samarkand's major tourist attractions: the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum. Are you ready to discover one of the most beautiful and important cities in Uzbekistan?
You'll undoubtedly be captivated by this majestic mausoleum, a jewel of Arabic architecture that houses the tomb of the Asian conqueror Tamerlane. We'll travel back in time to learn about the controversial history of this figure and reveal the secrets behind the construction of this building.
Afterwards, we'll walk to Registan Square, where we'll find three madrasas or Islamic schools: Ulugbhek, Sherdor and Tilla Kori. The square is located in the heart of Samarkand and is one of the most photographed spots in the city.
Next, we'll stop at a café so that, if you wish, you can enjoy some sweets or tea. Afterwards, we'll visit the great Bibi-Khanym Mosque, an impressive 14th-century temple that perfectly reflects the importance of Samarkand on the legendary Silk Road. Did you know that it's the largest mosque in Central Asia?
Near the Bibi-Khanym Mosque is the Shahi Zindah necropolis, a World Heritage Site whose iconic blue domes will completely capture your attention. This necropolis also has a mysterious history that we'll reveal to you there.
Finally, we'll visit the Ulugh Beg Observatory, one of the most important astronomical observatories in the Muslim world. It was built in 1420! We'll learn about the discoveries that were made about the stars, as well as the students who studied at this centre.
Finally, after 5 hours, we'll say our goodbyes in the central Registan Square.
