Day 1: San Gerardo de Dota - Providencia de Dota
At 8:30 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in San Gerardo de Dota and set off on the trekking route to the rural community of Providencia de Dota.
We'll hike 12 kilometres of moderate difficulty through the stunning nature of Los Quetzales National Park. Along the trail, we'll cross a suspension bridge over the Savegre River. We'll also have the opportunity to observe the area's native plants and wildlife up close while the guide tells us fascinating facts about them.
After the six-hour hike, we'll arrive at Rivera Lodge for lunch. There we'll relax and enjoy free time for the rest of the afternoon. Before retiring to the cabins, we'll enjoy a delicious dinner of rice, beans, meat and salad.
Day 2: Providencia de Dota - Betania
We'll wake up early for breakfast at 5:30 am and leave the lodge at 6:30 am, making our way to Cerro Vueltas, where we'll start the day's hike.
There we'll set off on a 14 kilometre hike through another part of the Los Quetzales National Park. We'll be surrounded by oak forests and enjoy breathtaking views of the two cleanest river basins in Central America.
We'll make a stop to renew our energy with a lunch wrapped in a banana leaf. After eight hours of trekking, we'll arrive at Betania Lodge for dinner and to relax until the next day in tents.
Day 3: Betania - San Isidro de Dota
On the third day, we'll have breakfast at 5:30 am so we're ready to begin trekking at 7:30 am. From Betania we'll head towards San Isidro de Dota, taking a 7 km trail.
We'll arrive at El Rancho de Tinamú at 11:30 am, where we'll have the opportunity to meet and chat with a local family. We'll have a hearty lunch of rice, beans, meat and salad, before spending the rest of the day at leisure.
We'll end the day with a delicious dinner and relax until the next day.
Day 4: San Isidro de Dota - Quepos
On the last day of our 4 day trek, we'll enjoy a delicious breakfast and at 6:30 am we'll start our journey to Quepos. During the course of the day, we'll walk a total of 18 kilometres, i.e. about 7 to 8 hours.
We'll make several stops along the way to rest, and at one of them we'll have lunch by the Quebrada Arroyo, at the Los Campesinos lodge. At 2 pm we'll arrive at our destination, and from there we'll take you to either Quepos or Manuel Antonio to finish our trek.
