Embark on a day trip to Monte Café, delving into the charm of one of São Tomé's most picturesque spots and exploring the island's breathtaking interior.
Day Trip Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll pick you up at your hotel in the city of Santo Tomé, and from there we’ll head inland.
After a 30-minute drive, we’ll arrive at the town of Monte Café. What connection does this town have with the world’s most popular beverage? We’ll find out by visiting the Roça Monte Café plantation. There, we’ll learn about the processes involved in making this beverage, which, of course, we’ll have the opportunity to taste.
Next, we’ll head to the outskirts of Monte Café to visit the San Nicolás Waterfall, where we’ll stop to take photos of this spectacular cascade. The scenery around this waterfall will captivate you forever!
Our next stop will be at the Bom Sucesso Botanical Garden. There, we’ll discover the main plant species found on the island of São Tomé. After admiring its rich plant life, we’ll continue our tour through the island’s interior by visiting the birthplace of José Almada Negreiro, one of the most prominent artists of Portugal’s Modernist movement.
After learning about his life and work, we’ll head to the Roça Saudade Hotel, where we’ll enjoy a delicious traditional lunch featuring various local specialties. Once we’ve regained our strength, we’ll make our way back to your hotel, where we’ll conclude this 8-hour trip of downtown São Tomé.
