Korea DMZ Tour
Tour Options
Depending on your preferences and the day you choose to do the tour, you'll be able to select between the following options during the booking process:
Standard DMZ Tour
We'll pick you up from your chosen meeting point in Seoul at the indicated time, and we'll head towards the north of the country to discover the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a 124-mile-long (200 km), 2.5-mile (4 km) wide buffer zone which separates North Korea and South Korea.
Once there, we'll explore the most emblematic features. Are you ready to discover one of the most formidable places in the world? We'll start by walking along Freedom Road, which runs alongside the banks of the Imjin River until Imjingak Park, where we'll see some of the artillery used during the Korean War.
Next, we'll see the Unification Bridge, built in 1998 as a symbol of the desire for unity between North and South Korea. Not only that, but we'll also visit an exhibition room in the DMZ, where we'll see documents and artifacts related to the military conflict.
Afterwards, we'll enter the infiltration tunnel, dug underneath the border between the two nations. Upon leaving the tunnel, we'll head to the Dora Observatory, where we'll use telescopes to see the North Korean town of Kijongdong. Interestingly, this town is known by North Koreans as "Peace Village", but it is commonly referred to as "Propaganda Village", particularly by South Koreans and Western media.
Finally, we'll make our way back to the departure point in Seoul and end this 7 to 8.5-hour day trip.
Standard DMZ Tour + Gamaksan Suspension Bridge
If you select the tour with a visit to the Gamaksan Suspension Bridge, we'll follow the same itinerary described above, with the addition of a visit to the Gamaksan Suspension Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in South Korea. This footbridge is 220 meters long (725 ft) and 1.5 meters (5 ft) wide. The bridge can withstand winds of up to 30 meters per second (67 mph) and earthquakes of up to 7 degrees of magnitude. It's incredible!
Please note that this option is only available at the 7 am timeslot.
DMZ Surroundings Tour
On Mondays, the Korean Demilitarized Zone remains closed. For this reason, you can book this alternative tour of the surrounding area, which will take us right up to the border without officially entering the Korean Demilitarized Zone.
We'll begin our route along the Jogang River, a natural waterway that forms part of the inter-Korean border.
Although we will not pass through the military checkpoints of the DMZ, we will stand at a strategic location overlooking North Korean territory. We will make a brief stop at the Aegibong checkpoint, where it will be essential to show your passport before entering this geopolitically sensitive area.
Next, we will visit the Marine Corps Memorial, erected in honor of the more than 15,000 soldiers who fought on this front during the Korean War. We will then explore the Aegibong Peace Ecological Park, a space that combines historical remembrance with environmental restoration.
We'll walk along scenic trails and elevated walkways, including a 150-meter (492-foot) suspension bridge. From this metal structure, you will enjoy panoramic views over the no man’s land, now transformed into a natural sanctuary home to more than 80 rare bird species.
We'll also visit the Peace Bell, cast in the year 2000 as a symbol of reunification, and the memorial altar inaugurated in 2018.
Finally, we will ascend to the Jogang Observatory, the closest viewpoint to the border, before making a short stop so you can grab a drink at your own expense. We will then return to Seoul, where the experience will conclude in a central location in the Hongdae area after a total duration of 5 hours.
Important: Please note that this tour does not include a visit to the infiltration tunnel.
