Activity Details
Day 1: Surabaya Airport
On the first day of your Indonesian adventure, your guide will be waiting for you at Juanda International Airport or at the Surabaya train station. From there, you'll be taken through lush rural East Java to your hotel at Mount Bromo, where you'll spend the night.
During the journey from Surabaya, which takes around three hours, you'll make a stop to rebuild energy with a delicious hearty lunch before arriving at your accommodation to get some rest ready for tomorrow's early start.
Day 2: Mount Bromo
Begin your day bright and very early, leaving the hotel at 3:30 am to make the most of the first light of dawn. Climbing into an all-terrain Jeep, you'll head out towards Gunung Penanjakan, where you'll make a stop at a hilltop viewpoint located over 9000 feet (2,770 metres) above sea level. From this vantage point, you'll get to see one of the most spectacular sunrises in the world. Watch in awe as the Bromo and Seremu volcanoes are illuminated by the rising sun: a breathtakingly beautiful sight that you'll never forget!
After this magical experience, you'll descend towards the caldera of the volcano, inching ever closer to the active Mount Bromo. Embrace your natural surroundings reaching the peak in a unique way: riding up the slopes of the volcano on horseback.
Having enjoyed the unparalleled views from the lofty heights of Gunung Bromo, as the volcano is known in Indonesian, you'll be taken back to the hotel for a well-earned breakfast! You'll then set off for the next stop on your tour, Ketapang, also known as Kalipuro, where you'll relax and build up your energy for another day full of adventure.
Day 3: Ijen – Ketapang –Bali
You've reached the final day of your excursion, but don't worry: we'll make the most of our time today!
You'll gather in the lobby of the hotel at 2 am, ready to visit the Ijen volcanoes, an area known as the blue volcano of Indonesia. We'll get to know its landscape, dominated by the so-called blue lava. For safety reasons, we won't be able to see this unique lava, but we'll tell you about its properties. Do you know why this volcano has magma of this colour? We'll tell you all the details and curiosities of this spectacular crater.
After discovering how stunning East Java truly is, you'll be taken back to Ketapang, where you'll catch a ferry over to Gilimanuk, on the neighbouring island of Bali. Here, your 3-day tour of the Indonesian volcanoes will come to an end.

Please note that to climb the Ijen volcanoes, you'll need to bring a medical certificate stating that you're in good health. Said certificate must de done in Indonesia, where we'll accompany you to the clinic on the first day of the activity.
