Take a trip back in time on this day trip to Kruja from Tirana, where we'll visit its famous castle and stroll through its medieval-style bazaar.
Day Trip Details
On the day of the trip, we’ll pick you up at your hotel in Tirana. From the Albanian capital, we’ll head north toward the town of Kruja. Along the way, we’ll cross the Sari Salltik Mountains and enjoy a rocky landscape steeped in faith and mysticism.
To experience this firsthand, we’ll stop at the Sari Salltik Sanctuary, located 1,176 meters above sea level. Did you know this place is linked to a 13th-century mystical dervish? You’ll be amazed by its history!
We’ll return to the minibus to continue our journey to our destination. Upon arriving in Kruja, we’ll take a stroll through the Kruja bazaar. Its most popular items are kilims (rugs) and eleshe (the traditional hat), though you can buy almost anything there. You’re sure to be tempted to pick up a souvenir!
Afterward, we’ll visit Kruja Castle, which houses the Skanderbeg Museum, named in honor of George Castriota, better known as “Skanderbeg.”
Inside this imposing building, we’ll admire a collection of unique artifacts that will transport us back to the 15th century. Of particular note is the collection of armor, which includes a replica of the helmet Skanderbeg wore in battle.
Finally, we’ll board the vehicle again and arrive at your hotel in Tirana between 7 and 8.5 hours after our initial pickup.
