Tirana Private Tour
Tour Details
We’ll meet in front of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet, in Skanderbeg Square. There, next to Skanderbeg’s equestrian statue, we’ll begin uncovering Tirana’s past.
In this same area, we’ll admire the National History Museum, recognizable by its mosaic façade, which visually represents the construction of Albania’s national identity. Did you know it’s the largest museum in Albania?
Very close by, we’ll visit Et'hem Bey Mosque, one of the few surviving examples of Ottoman religious architecture in Tirana. Its refined mural decoration and porticoes are considered a rarity within the Islamic art of the region.
Next to the mosque stands the Clock Tower, formerly an important urban and social landmark. We’ll continue toward the National Gallery of Arts, a symbol of the country’s contemporary cultural development, and we’ll pass by the so-called Toptani Castle, a remnant of Tirana’s former defensive and residential structure.
Afterwards, we’ll head to Saint Paul’s Catholic Cathedral, characterized by its modern lines, and to the famous Pyramid of Tirana, one of the most distinctive buildings from the late communist period. We’ll then wander through Blloku, once a neighborhood reserved for the communist political elite and now transformed into one of the capital’s most vibrant districts.
Finally, we’ll arrive at the Resurrection of Christ Orthodox Cathedral, one of the most important Orthodox temples in the Balkans, whose contemporary design and massive dome symbolize the restoration of religious freedom in Albania.
At the end of the tour, we’ll say goodbye at this final stop after a total of 2 hours exploring Tirana.
