Semi Gobi Desert Tour

Having picked you up from your hotel in Ulaanbaatar at 8 am, we'll set off by minibus to the Semi Gobi Desert. This area of the Mongolian countryside is exactly as it sounds: partially arid desert but surrounded by a green mountainous backdrop.

Driving through the Mongolian steppe, we'll reach the desert, where we'll be welcomed with a coffee or tea accompanied by a snack. We'll then meet a local family who will tell us all about their traditional nomadic lifestyle.

Immerse yourself in desert life enjoying an hour-long camel or horse ride through the arid landscapes of the Semi Gobi, admiring the dunes and mountains of Mongolia in the most exciting way.

You're bound to have worked up an appetite after the morning's adventures, so after getting off the camels or horses, we'll take a break and indulge in a delicious lunch of local specialities. The menu will depend on the time of year, but you'll be able to try buuz, a type of steamed dumpling, khuushuur, a typical meat filled pastry and a noodle dish called tsuivan, finished off with tea and cookies for dessert.

With renewed energy, we'll embark on a short trekking route through the dunes to get one last in-depth look at the desert landscapes, before leaving the Semi Gobi behind and heading back to Ulaanbaatar. You'll be dropped back off at your hotel for around 7 pm.
