Valencia Free Walking Tour

At the indicated time, we'll begin this guided tour of Valencia in Plaza de la Virgen, where we'll learn about the stories behind its main monuments: the Virgen de Los Desamparados Basilica, the Turia fountain...

Two important Valencian traditions take place here: the floral offering during the 'Fallas' (a celebration of St. Joseph held every year in the Valencia region) and the Tribunal of Waters (a tradition which settles disputes regarding the use of irrigation water by farmers declared UNESCO cultural heritage). We'll observe the renaissance architecture of the Town Hall, the headquarters of the Valencian autonomous government.

The free walking tour then continues to the Miguelete, the belltower of the Valencia Cathedral. We'll tell you some of the anecdotes and unusual facts surrounding the church, before heading to the gothic Llotja de la Seda, reminding us of the 15th-century heyday, when Valencia was an important commercial centre.

From the 15th century, we jump directly to 1914, crossing the street where you can find the Valencia Central Market, a fine example of Valencian modernism, an architectural style that took hold at the beginning of the 20th century.

Next, we'll visit the Serranos Towers. Along with the Quart Gate, these towers are the main testament to the medieval walls that once surrounded Valencia.

After a two and a half hour route, our tour of Valencia will finish at Plaza del Mercado.
