Unfortunately we had rain and the guide decided to cut it short. In general good, we learned interesting aspects of this beautiful city.

Verona Free Walking Tour Itinerary

Meet your guide next to Arco dei Gavi, an ancient archway first constructed around the 1st century that acted as an entrance to Verona during the Middle Ages. From this iconic landmark, your free walking tour of one of Italy's most romantic cities will commence.

Journey back several millennia for the first stop on your guided tour: the Verona Arena, one of the best preserved Roman amphitheatres not just in Italy, but in the world. Admire its façade while your guide reveals some of the events for which it's still used today, before strolling onwards to the lively Piazza dei Signori and Piazza della Erbe, the oldest square in Verona.

Finally, follow your English-speaking guide through Verona's history, from its origins to the city today, as you pass by the Medieval castle and bridge known as Castelvecchio and the Church of Santa Maria Antica. This 12th century Romanesque temple is home to the ornate Gothic tombs of the Scaliger family, who ruled Verona from the 13th to the late 14th century.
