At the scheduled time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Yerevan and set off on this private day trip. Are you ready to dive into the history of Armenia?
First, we’ll visit the Monument to the Armenian Alphabet, a memorial located in the village of Artashavan. Here, we’ll stroll among its 39 enormous stone sculptures, each representing a letter of the Armenian alphabet. During the visit, you’ll learn why this writing system is the cornerstone of national identity.
Next, we’ll head to Saghmosavank Monastery, which stands atop a cliff. From this 13th-century monastic complex, we’ll enjoy unique panoramic views of the Kasagh River and Mount Aragats. A perfect photo opportunity!
Nearby, we’ll visit another medieval treasure: Hovhannavank Monastery. Dating from the 4th to 13th centuries, it features a 5th-century basilica and the 13th-century Church of St. John. It’s architecturally renowned for its use of volcanic tuff, creating a colorful mosaic of reddish and orange hues.
Finally, we’ll return to the starting point, where we’ll say goodbye 4 to 5 hours later.
